A woman stalked her neighbour amid a dispute about cutting his tree and racially abused another after an argument over a bin.
Jeanette Reid, 62, initially kept tabs on the victim outside their homes in Glasgow’s Mosspark between April and May 2025.
The man had been enraged after Reid chopped down a tree which was in his garden.
Reid went on to stare at him through a window and shouted, “Peek a boo” at him.
Later that year, Reid got into a dispute with her other neighbour, as he was upset with her using his bins.
Reid made a racist comment to the man, which related to his South African heritage.
Reid was initially charged with stalking and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
She was cleared at Glasgow Sheriff Court as a result of a special defence of being unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions due to a mental disorder at the time.
The court heard that the stalking victim lives next door to Reid in adjoining properties.
Prosecutor Caitlin McAllister said: “Reid used garden shears to cut down a tree in [the man’s] garden.
“He asked her to stop, and she did not do this.”
Around two weeks later, Reid posted on Facebook about the victim, calling him a psychopath and a risk to children.
On May 28, the man could see Reid through his window in the garden.
Ms McCallister added: “She repeatedly shouted peek a boo and waved at him.
“He perceived this to be part of the ongoing harassment and was reported to the police.”
In October 2025, the second victim saw Reid outside of his property in the afternoon.
He asked her if she was putting rubbish in his bin, and she replied that other people were using her bin.
This resulted in Reid becoming “aggressive” towards him.
He went on to record Reid on his phone and told her to stay away from him multiple times.
Reid then stated, “Why don’t you go back to your own country” and then called him a “w****r” which is a South African slur.
Sheriff Dianna McConnell granted non-harassment orders which prohibit Reid’s contact with her two victims.
