A woman will stand trial accused of defrauding her elderly mother of £22,000 to gamble.
Janet McGurgan, 61, allegedly used the 87-year-old’s internet banking between January 2020 and January 2023.
The charge says that McGurgan, of Glasgow’s Craigend, gambled on four online casinos.
The allegation states that McGurgan “pretended” to each that she was the owner or had authority to used her mother’s funds.
It goes on to say that McGurgan induced the betting companies to supply her with online gambling services.
The total amount allegedly taken by McGurgan is claimed to have been £22,602.35.
McGurgan denied the single charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
A trial has been set for February.
