Police ScotlandA woman who died after being found injured in a house in South Lanarkshire has been named.
Susan Sergison was found with serious injuries on Gilmour Drive in Hamilton around 8.25pm on Wednesday.
The 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 49-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the death.
She is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, January 17.
Area Commander Chief Inspector Neil Smith said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died at this very difficult time and our officers will continue to support them as this investigation continues.
“I am aware that this incident will be of concern to the community in Hamilton but I would like to reassure people that we have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation and there is no threat to the wider community.
“Officers will remain in the area as enquiries are carried out and anyone with any concerns can approach them.”
