A cyclist who died after being struck by an HGV outside a casino in Glasgow has been named as a woman from France.
Emergency crews cordoned off the road outside the Riverboat Casino in the city’s Broomielaw area for more than nine hours following the collision at the junction with the King George V Bridge at around 10.10am on Friday.
The road reopened at around 7.25pm after traffic had been diverted away from the scene
The cyclist was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, but was pronounced dead by medics a short time later.
Police have now named her as 22-year-old Emma Newman, from Moulineaux, Paris.
No one else was injured in the collision.
Sergeant Paul Mellis said: “Our thoughts are with Emma’s family and friends and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened and who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch, particularly if you have dash-cam that could assist with our investigation.”
