Four people have been killed, including children, after a gunman opened fire at a family gathering in California.
Police have appealed for information and confirmed a manhunt is underway for the perpetrator.
A further ten people were wounded in the incident, with early indications “suggesting this may have been a targeted incident”, according to a spokesperson from San Joaquin County sheriff’s office.
Those injured have been taken to hospital, but their conditions are unknown.
The county’s District Attorney Ron Freitas said: “If you have any information as to this individual, reach out immediately. If you are this individual, turn yourself in immediately.”
The shooting occurred just before 6pm inside a banquet hall. Stockton is a city of 320,000 people about 40 miles south of Sacramento.
Responding to the incident, Mayor Christina Fugazzi “Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive.”
