Donald Trump has addressed rumours that he hasn’t been well, saying on Tuesday that he has “been very active actually”.
A reporter at a press conference asked the US president how he found out that “he was dead” over the weekend.
Trump said he’d heard about general concerns about his wellbeing, but not about the speculation he’d died.
“Well it’s fake news. It’s so fake… I knew they were saying, like: ‘Is he okay? How’s he feeling? What’s wrong?’”
Donald Trump vigorously denied that there was anything wrong with his health
“I have heard, it’s sort of crazy. But last week I did numerous news conferences, all successful. They went very well like, this is going very well. And then I didn’t do any for two days, and they said there must be something wrong with him,” Trump said.
He had also vigorously denied claims that he wasn’t well on Truth Social on Monday, writing: “NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE”.
There has been speculation over the president’s health in recent months, and in July, it was revealed he had chronic venous insufficiency.
The announcement was made in response to photos that were circulating online showing bruising on the back of Trump’s hand, which had been covered with makeup that didn’t match his skin tone.
The press conference on Tuesday was originally held to announce that the US Space Command headquarters will be moved from Colorado Springs in Colorado, to Huntsville in Alabama.
The administration said that it was a choice based on national security rather than politics, despite the fact that Alabama voted overwhelmingly in favour of Trump taking office, while Colorado voted blue.
