A petition to Parliament calling for the return of the McDonald’s breakfast wrap has been rejected.
The petition was lodged in response to the item being removed from the menu during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a bitter blow to wrap fans, McDonald’s confirmed earlier this year that they were not in a position to safely return the item to their menu.
In response to a request on Twitter begging McDonald’s to bring the wrap back, the company said: “We continue to prioritise the safety of our people, we still have smaller teams and are social distancing within in our kitchens.
“At the moment we are still not able to safely return the breakfast wrap to the menu.”
Following failed attempts on social media calling for the fast food chain to bring back the wraps, the petitioners launched a last-ditch bid to see the item brought back.
The petition said: “We all miss Mcdonald’s breakfast wraps and after Covid they removed them from the menu. Bring them back!
“This is the only way to get Mcdonald’s to respond! We have tried social media and it’s not worked.”
However, the petition was rejected as the UK Government and UK Parliament is not responsible for what items McDonald’s has on its menu.
Setting out the reasons for the rejection, the response read: “It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
“Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament is responsible for.
“Decisions about what items are on the menu at McDonalds is a matter for McDonalds not the Government or Parliament.
“As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.”
