Russell Brand charged with two more sexual offences

The comedian is facing two further charges, one of rape and one of sexual assault, in relation to alleged offences against two women.

Russell Brand has been issued with two new charges in relation to alleged crimes against two women, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

On Tuesday the comedian was charged with one further count of rape and one further count of sexual assault.

The alleged offences took place in 2009, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

These new allegations are in addition to the charges brought against the former TV presenter in April 2025, which included two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault relating to four women.

Brand, of Oxfordshire, denied the charges at Southwark Crown Court at the time.

He will now appear at Westminster Magistrate’s Court on January 20 to face the new charges.

Detective Tariq Farooqi from the Metropolitan Police said: “The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

“The Met’s investigation remains ongoing, and detectives urge anyone affected by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with police.

A trial is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on 16 June 2026 in relation to the original five charges.

Those charges relate to alleged incidents that took place between 1999 and 2005.

Brand is accused of raping a woman in a hotel room while she attended a Labour Party conference in Bournemouth, and grabbing a TV worker’s breasts and orally raping her after dragging her into a male toilet, the court heard in May.

Brand is also alleged to have grabbed a radio station worker’s face, pushing her against a wall and kissing her before groping her breasts and buttocks.

The other charge of the original five alleges that the actor indecently assaulted another woman after grabbing her forearm and attempting to drag her into a male toilet.

The original charges came following an investigation by Channel 4 and the Sunday Times in which multiple women made allegations against him.

Brand strenuously denied any wrongdoing at the time.
