Ryanair announced 200 “rescue flights” amid mass cancellations and rescheduling by UK airlines on Monday.
The budget carrier launched the flights on its pre-existing routes from 19 UK airports to Europe to facilitate passengers affected by the cancellations this summer.
It said that in addition to its 15,000 weekly flights, these “rescue flights” would add over 1,000 more extra services between July and August, 2022.
The announcement comes amid thousands of cancellations due to “operational failures“, understaffing, and strike action across the UK.
The flights, available from 19 major UK airports – including Glasgow and Edinburgh – are available through to September but must be booked by June 23, the carrier said.
Ryanair’s Dara Brady said: “UK families can now rest easy in the knowledge that Ryanair will fly them to/from their summer holiday destination to enjoy some well-deserved time off with friends and family.”
