Tesco has issued an urgent recall notice over mince pies after they were found to contain pieces of glue.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said the supermarket giant was issuing a “do not eat” warning over its Tesco Finest six pack All Butter Pastry Mince Pies.

The six pack size, with affected use by dates confirmed as October 4, 26, and November 2, and 10, has been recalled as they may contain pieces of “dried glue from packaging” which makes them unsafe to eat.

Anyone who purchased the snack can return it to their nearest Tesco store for a full refund.

A Tesco statement read: “The products may contain small pieces of dry glue from the packaging making them unsafe to eat.

“Tesco is recalling the above product and has issued a recall notice. This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

“If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any store for a full refund. For more information contact Tesco Customer Service Team on 0800 505 555.”
