Donald Trump has told the United Nations that “windmills and massive solar panels” are destroying Scotland’s beauty.

In his General Assembly address on Tuesday, the US President criticised the UK for “ruining” its countryside with wind and solar farms.

He said: “I want to stop seeing them ruining that beautiful Scottish and English countryside with windmills and massive solar panels that go seven miles by seven miles, taking away farmland.

“We’re not letting this happen in America.”

It’s not the first time Trump has criticised Scottish windfarms.

During his private visit to Scotland in July, he called the windmills in Aberdeenshire “ugly monsters” and said Scotland has “the ugliest windmills I’ve ever seen”.

‘North Sea so taxed no oil company can go there’

Trump also claimed that the UK had “given up their powerful edge” by making North Sea oil “so highly taxed that no developer, no oil company can go there”.

“Aberdeen was the oil capital of Europe, and there’s tremendous oil that hasn’t been found in the North Sea – tremendous oil,” Trump said.

“They have tremendous oil left and, more importantly, they have tremendous oil that hasn’t even been found yet.

“And what a tremendous asset for the United Kingdom, and I hope the Prime Minister’s listening because I told it to him three days in a row – that’s all he heard. ‘North Sea oil, North Sea’.”

Trump says London wants to ‘go to sharia law’

The US President also used the address to claim London wants to “go to Sharia law” as he said Europe was being “invaded” by “illegal aliens”.

Trump attacked UN assistance for asylum seekers and renewed his feud with London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan, calling him a “terrible, terrible mayor”.

A spokesperson for Khan said: “We are not going to dignify his appalling and bigoted comments with a response.

“London is the greatest city in the world, safer than major US cities, and we’re delighted to welcome the record number of US citizens moving here.”

UK health secretary Wes Streeting said Khan is not “trying to impose sharia law on London”.
