Two men arrested in connection with Golders Green arson attack

Monday's incident is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime by the Metropolitan Police.

Two men aged 47 and 45 have been arrested in connection with the Golders Green arson attack, the Metropolitan Police said.

The Metropolitan Police said the two men were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and both men have been taken to a London police station for questioning.

The blaze early on Monday morning in Golders Green, a London neighborhood with a large Jewish population, consumed four ambulances belonging to the volunteer organization Hatzola Northwest.

Oxygen cylinders on the vehicles exploded, breaking windows in an adjacent apartment block. There were no injuries reported.

Counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation into the attack.

The incident is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime by the Metropolitan Police and has not been declared a terrorist incident, the force said.

Police have since set up an online portal for members of the public to share any video footage they have before, during, or after the incident.

Hatzola is a non-profit, volunteer organisation that provides hospital transportation and emergency care to the local community, regardless of religion.
