Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, the royal line of succession has now changed.

The longest serving heir apparent in British history, King Charles III is also the oldest person to have assumed the British throne.

As the nation adjusts to its first king in more than 70 years, his ascension means the line of succession has now been updated and his son, Prince William, becomes heir apparent.

Here’s how the royal family now stands following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Upon Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8, 2022, he became the new monarch and confirmed he would be known as King Charles III. Earlier this year, the Queen said it was her “sincere wish” that his wife, Camilla, would be known as Queen Consort.
