A stag wandered into the driveway of a shocked Aberdeenshire couple’s house.
Brian and Doreen Wood, from Braemar, got a surprise when they saw the male deer standing in the heavy snow outside their window.
Brian said: “We were having breakfast and when I looked out the dining room window I saw a set of antlers pointing up above my car.
“It came right up the path and round the back of the house – it is now standing just by the patio doors, if the glass wasn’t there I could reach out and touch it.
Stags are a familiar sight in the area around Braemar, which is located in the Cairngorms National Park.
But they are a rarer sight in the village itself unless tempted to go further in the search for morsels of food.
Brian said: “Several of them have been around in recent days but it seems ours is the most curious. There is no way out at the back of our house so the stag is trapped until it works out how to come back round.
“I was certainly a bit surprised to see it. You’re never quite sure how they’re going to react – you have to be careful around them as they can do a bit of damage.
“I gave it a few carrots earlier, I even laid a trail but it has not picked up on that yet.”
