A cyclist who died after falling from his bike in Aberdeenshire has been named.

Liam Alexander Finlayson, from Inverurie, had been cycling on the B9126 road at Kirkton of Skene when the incident took place at around 2.40pm on Sunday.

Emergency services attended and several members of the public stopped to assist the 35-year-old but he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police say enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances. 

A previous appeal by the force sought to identify a 4×4 vehicle.

Investigating officers now say the driver of this vehicle has come forward and has been spoken to. 

Anyone with information regarding the crash, who has not yet spoken to police, should call 101.
