Man found lying seriously ill in woodland taken to hospital

Emergency services were called to Meikle Drumgray Road in Greengairs at around 8.40am on Monday.

A man is in hospital after being found seriously unwell in a wooded area in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to Meikle Drumgray Road in Greengairs at around 8.40am on Monday after the 53-year-old man was discovered lying nearby.

He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands for treatment.

Officers are investigating to establish what happened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40 am on Monday, April 12, 2021, a 53-year-old man was found lying seriously unwell in wooded area near to Meikle Drumgray Road, Greengairs, Airdrie.

“He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to be there.”
