John Beaton has been appointed as the match referee for Sunday’s Premiership game when Rangers meet Celtic at Ibrox.
It will be the first time he has refereed the fixture since December 2018, when Rangers were 1-0 winners.
In the aftermath of that game, Beaton’s performance was criticised by many and his mobile phone number was leaked on social media. The referee was said to have received dozens of threatening messages.
Three men were arrested, with one being fined £750 for sending offensive messages.
Beaton has taken charge of games involving Rangers or Celtic since but matches between the two have been officiated by Kevin Clancy and Bobby Madden.
Celtic go into the game with a 13-point lead over their city rivals, who hold a game in hand.
Douglas Ross and Alan Mulvanny will act as Beaton’s assistants, with Don Robertson as the fourth official
