Dog stuck at bottom of cliff on golf course rescued by coastguard

Rescue teams were called to Eyemouth golf course on Thursday afternoon after a dog got stuck at the bottom of a cliff.

A dog stuck at the bottom of a cliff at a golf course in the Scottish Borders was rescued by the coastguard.

Berwick Coastguard rescue team, Dunbar Coastguard and an RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat were called after the animal got stuck over a cliff at Eyemouth golf course on Thursday afternoon.

A rope rescue technician was lowered over the cliff and successfully secured the dog using an animal rescue bag, before they were both pulled to the cliff top.

The dog suffered no “obvious injuries” but is to be monitored and taken to the vet if any issues arise.

A spokesperson said: “Eyemouth coastguard, Berwick Coastguard rescue team, Dunbar Coastguard and RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat were tasked Thursday afternoon to reports of a dog stuck over a cliff at Eyemouth golf course.

“Arriving on scene a rope rescue technician from Eyemouth was lowered over the cliff and successfully secured the dog using an animal rescue bag, Coastguards then recovered the technician and the dog to the cliff top.

“Our new furry friend suffered no obvious injuries and was taken home by its owners with advice to monitor and take to vet if they had any concerns.
