Aberdeen are set to appoint veteran manager Neil Warnock to replace Barry Robson until the end of the season.
STV understands that the 75-year-old will be appointed as interim manager within the next 24-hours.
The former Leeds United, QPR, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace boss could be in the dugout when the Dons take on Rangers at Ibrox on Tuesday night.
Robson was sacked following a draw with Dundee last midweek with Aberdeen currently sitting eighth in the Premiership table.
Caretaker manager Peter Leven was in charge as they secured a 1-1 draw against champions Celtic on Saturday.
Warnock has managed 16 different clubs during a 44-year managerial career and won the English Championship with London side Queen’s Park Rangers in 2011.
He also holds the record for the most promotions in English football across all the top four divisions.
He most recently managed Huddersfield for a 23 game spell last year.
