Motherwell are holding talks with Hearts midfielder Andy Halliday over a potential January move to Fir Park.
The 32-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, could be looking for more game time after making only six appearances for the Tynecastle club this season.
Halliday signed for Hearts after leaving Rangers in 2020 and helped the club to the Championship title in his first season.
But he has since fallen out of favour under Steven Naismith this season, making only three league appearances as well as one in the League Cup and two in Europe.
He could now be on his way to North Lanarkshire as Stuart Kettlewell looks to bolster his squad for the second half of the season.
On Monday Motherwell confirmed the loan-signing of Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery until the end of the season.
The Steelmen are currently ninth in the Premiership table and only one point off the relegation play-off place after only one win from their last 17 games.
They return to action against Alloa in the Scottish Cup this weekend following a two-week winter break before travelling to St Johnstone when the Premiership restarts a week later.
