UK Swifties have been left delighted after ticket providers confirmed a major change to their policy for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour.

Following what fans called “The Great War” to buy tickets for the highly anticipated tour, purchasers were left fuming after claims that a crucial detail about tickets to the US star’s shows was left out at the point of purchase.

Fans were sent into a frenzy after purchasing tickets through Ticketmaster and AXS only to discover that the Edinburgh shows on June 7, 8 and 9 at Murrayfield – alongside most of the other UK shows – were labelled as “lead booker” events by ticket providers.

The controversial policy means that the person who purchased the ticket, or whose name was on the account, had to be present to attend the event and tickets could not be passed on to other attendees.

On Wednesday, thousands of Swifties breathed a sigh of relief when Ticketmaster and AXS emailed to customers to say their “lead booker” policy had been removed.

The ticket providers updated their T&Cs, sharing a new policy.

In an email to ticket holders, they said: “The ‘lead booker’ policy has been removed, meaning that the person whose name is on the Ticketmaster account used to purchase tickets is no longer required to attend the event.

“All other terms and conditions remain unchanged. We hope you enjoy the show!”

The megastar will bring her Eras tour to the UK in summer 2024, with three dates in Edinburgh.

Ticketmaster has been contacted for comment.
