Glasgow specialists are pioneering a new approach to protecting patients’ brains during surgery to remove tumours.
The medics at the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital are using a new tool called Neuromapper.
And 24-year-old Brooke MacFadyen from Coatbridge was amongst the first to benefit.
It helps surgeons detect the subtlest changes in the brain while a tumour is removed, and Brooke remains awake throughout the whole operation.
Neurosurgeons believe the change to testing has great potential for future care.
