A teenage League One footballer has suffered serious injuries after a crash involving a car and a van.
Finlay Cross-Adair was rushed to hospital following the collision between his Seat Ibiza and a Mercedes Sprinter shortly after 5.10pm on the A6 near Lancaster on Thursday, October 5.
The 18-year-old, on loan at Annan Athletic from Preston North End, was cut from the wreckage by fire crews before being passed into the care of the North West Ambulance Service and transported to hospital.
His parent club said he suffered “serious injuries” in the crash and would be “fully supported” in his recovery.
Lancashire Police are now investigating the incident.
In a statement, the Galabank club said: “Annan Athletic have been informed that loanee striker Finlay Cross-Adair was involved in a road traffic accident on the A6 on the evening of Thursday, October 5.
“Finlay has suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident and is currently recovering in hospital.
“Everyone connected with the club would like to wish Finlay a full and speedy recovery and we will await further news from his parent club Preston North End.”
Officers have since launched an appeal for dashcam footage and have asked anyone travelling in the area at the time to come forward.
Sergeant Phil Baxendale, from the Lancashire road policing unit, said: “This collision has left a young man with some very serious injuries and my thoughts are with him at this time.
“We are now working to establish exactly what caused the collision and I would ask anyone with information or dashcam footage which would assist our enquiries to contact us as soon as possible.”
