Protesters have thrown red paint and smashed windows at an office block in Glasgow over a company’s alleged links to an Israeli defence firm.
On Tuesday, Palestine Action said it has targeted ten Allianz offices across the UK, over the insurance firm’s alleged links to Elbit Systems.
The group also said it had occupied the company’s headquarters in Guildford.
Allianz’s office block on Waterloo Street in Glasgow was among those targeted, with police alerted to damage to the building around 4.20am on Tuesday morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20am on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, officers received a report of vandalism to a building on Waterloo Street, Glasgow.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
An Allianz spokesperson said: “We have had disruption overnight at several of our offices. The safety and security of our colleagues is paramount and we have closed these sites today.
“Our operations and service to customers and clients are unaffected. As this is an ongoing police matter we have no further comment at this stage.”
